It might be sufficient to say the following about the stature of the Oceansedge property:
1. The property is one of just a dozen oceanfront homes on a 50-acre oceanfront peninsula in Bar Harbor. That peninsula has been for 125 years an exclusive domain with a private road available only to residents and guests, just as the distinguished original property owners coming from throughout the US firmly intended for their “Lookout Point”.
2. That property on Lookout Point on Hulls Cove is arguably the most historic and prestigious neighborhood in Bar Harbor, although its residents – who know their good luck to be there – consider the following to be more important: the serenity of the place, its nearly tame wildlife companions, its personal security and privacy, and its nonpareil views of the Town’s waterfront and the Cadillac Mountain ranges and the ocean horizon at dusk and dawn. There is nothing like it, which is perhaps part of the reason why Acadia National Park is part of the view.
3. During its more than 25 years of continuous operation as a licensed vacation rental property affiliated with numerous community organizations, the Oceansedge property has fairly won from 500 visiting families from throughout the US and Europe innumerable reviews – every one of which was favorable. Every one.
4. Oceansedge’s guests have included a raft of luminaries of national renown. All of them possessed extraordinary natural gifts of character and ability and talent such that they became hugely accomplished in their chosen lifelong professions. It was an honor to have them as guests, and sometimes later as enduring correspondents as well. The logos for some of those companies and institutions are shown here on this page.
But the foregoing summary might not yet be sufficient to arrest the reader’s attention.
If so, we might recall an aphorism of Lee Iaccoca, the thrillingly charismatic executive officer and likewise unabashed frontman of the Ford Motor Company who did more than save for Henry Ford II that great American company from near financial oblivion. Iaccoca also created alone the legendary Ford Mustang made snarlingly glorious by Steve McQueen in the long ago movie Bullitt.
Iacocca’s aphorism about his company’s products and services: “If you can find a better car, buy it!”
If you can find a better vacation rental property, book it! (Or stay home and watch an old movie).
